Monthly tried and tested

For this months tried and tested we found a great product to test a dog towel!! We wanted to test something we use every day when I’m grooming especially curly coated breeds like bichons and poodle’s you use the towel to keep the coat damp while drying. Many a time Ive got annoyed with the towels getting sopping wet to quickly and them taking forever to dry. We came across a great website called Elite doggy and style they sell lot’s of different doggy products from cute doggy clothes to bowls and collars. They sell dog towels to and were more than happy for us to test one! We chose the Barnyard friends hooded towel to test here’s how we got on…..

First we tested the towel on the Lab x pups we have in with them being so small we needed to keep them extra warm to while drying.

The towel worked really well plus they looked super cute too! We found that the towel was really light weight on them as its made of 100% cotton. We also managed to do six of the  pups without it getting to wet which is really good going!

Next we decided to test the towel on Sheridan he has a very long coat I find it goes frizzy unless I keep his coat damp while drying.

The towel worked great on Sherry I love the way it fits the body contours it has wrap around feet to which really helped keep his body damp and warm while I dried his head as you can see from the picture he didn’t have any frizz either!

I asked another groomer who’s a very good friend of mine Rachael to come round and help test the towels. She thought they were really good she especially liked the way they looked and the hood. We also decided to put a conditioning treatment on Izzy the Shih tzu as her coat was very dry. We wrapped Izzy up in the towel with the treatment on to help the conditioner to penetrate the coat and keep her warm!

We did find Izzy wasn’t to keen on the hood being up but she was kept nice and warm and the towel didn’t get to wet and cold for her.

Our conclusion

We loved the towel it looks really cute and we found it dried really quickly by just putting it on a radiator. We especially liked the way it didn’t get wet to quickly and even after lot’s of washing it stayed soft and plush. I think they are a great product to have for dog groomers and dog owners. We will definitely be ordering more they work great for the conditioning treatment’s  we use on customers dogs and we found they kept the dogs a lot warmer than an average towel due to you being able to wrap it round the dog. The towel is also available in a frog and a duck design! We definatly give this product a 10/10

For this months tried and tested we decided to test dog collars , at Walkies we spend a small fortune on collars . There are Lot’s to choose from and we wanted to find one that wasn’t only hard wearing but glamorous too !! Lot’s of times in the past we have bought collars for them only to be destroyed days later through play fighting or our dog’s love of water !! Then we came across Gorgeous collars all their collars are hand beaded. They were kind enough to send us one to test here’s how we got on ….

We decided to use Marley the Standerd Poodle to test the collars first. Marley likes to spend his days swimming , chasing around after the other dogs , play fighting and of course destroying toys !

Marley loved the collar and as soon as we went for a walk he was up to his usual shenanigan’s !! We tested the collar on Marley for three weeks in that time it with stood water , play fighting Marley rushing through bushes and getting stuck !!

For our next dog to test the collar we chose Ellie the Cockerpoo she’s a little quieter than Marley but just as mad !! She loves to roll in mud and and has a habit of braking collars,  she’s also a water dog too!

Ellie looked very pretty in her collar and we tested it on her for two weeks. In that time three people commented on how nice her collar was.  She got up to her usual antics and the collar stayed intact!

Our conclusion

We were very impressed with the collar we give it a rating of 10 / 1o not only did it look great but through all our testing it stayed intact. We especially like the beading effect and even after it had been in water lots the beads didn’t change cour or come loose . It’s very hardy and well made the lady Nicki makes them herself and you can get them custom made to your wishes. We have now decided to buy a Gorgeous collar for all our dogs as we were so happy with them.

For this months tried and tested  we decided to test a dog shampoo due to us now adding dog grooming to our list of services. There’s so many to choose from on the market today but we wanted a product to suit us many of our re homers have all kinds of skin complaints when they first arrive and our dog grooming customers deserve pampering too. We wanted to find a product that smelled good was environmentally friendly and suitable for all coat types. Then we came across scruffy chops  they were kind enough to send us some shampoo for us to test . We chose three different coat types to test.

We decided to use Ellie to test the shampoo first she is a two year old Cockerpoo and is our hard working demo dog. She often suffers from dry itchy skin and  hot spot’s. The shampoo we are using is Rhubarking mad.Her coat type is curly.

The shampoo smelt delicious and after her coat was so soft and shiny there was also a remarkable difference to her hot spot.

The next dog we are using is our Shih Tzu  Sheridan he has a double coat and his coat type is long and silky. Sheridan’s coat often suffers from dryness he loves jumping through puddles. We will be using the Rhubarking mad shampoo again along with Muddy marvelous mineral conditioner.

The conditioner was great and smelt of coconut his coat was left fresh clean and in tip top condition. My hands also felt very soft afterwards.

The next dog we are using is one of our re homers named Bailey he is a seven month old beagle cross. His coat type is wiry and its also his first time on the grooming table!

The shampoo worked great for Bailey’s coat type too. He was left fresh clean and soft to stroke. He also behaved great on the grooming table and enjoyed being pampered!!

Our conclusion

We really enjoyed testing  Scruffy chops products the packaging’s colourful and you don’t waste a single drop due to being able to squeeze down the packaging. It also lasts a while we did three dogs and only used a quarter of the shampoo. I loved the smell of the products they were good enough to eat and the dogs smelt lovely for days afterwards. I have found some dog shampoo’s in the past making our dogs coats too soft and fly away especially our Shih Tzu’s  but the products we tested to day were brilliant they made the coats a great texture. We have decided to use Scruffy Chops as our main shampoo supplier now as we were so impressed!
