As Walkies is growing, we are on the look out for more fosterer’s, volunteers and dog walkers to help us help more dogs. We also have a dog grooming site Amikaya, on there you can purchase Bach flower remedies, Bandannas, Bows , Grooming vouchers etc. All proceeds go towards spoiling our re homers. We like the fact that by having your dog groomed at Amikaya it goes towards funding our rescue.
Being A Walkies dog walker ..
Dog walking is an essential part of walkies hence our name! We like each dog to be exercised daily as well as training. We are always on the look out for dog walking volunteers . We are lucky enough to live in such a beautiful spot their are lots of lovely walks around us plus our dog walkers also use our dog walk park. Dog walkers are fab because they help socialize our re homers and with nervous dogs like Bolly it means they get used to be handled by many people. Being a Walkies fosterer …
Being a foster carer is an important role to play in rehabilitating rescue dogs. We like our fosterer’s to be dog savvy, and to work closely with us. We get dogs in from all walks of life so need fosterer’s from all walks of life too.
Some dogs don’t get on with other dogs so foster carers with no pets are always good. Familys work well for fostering if the dog has been used to a family environment before. A foster home with another dogs works well too, we pay for all the feed and we ask you to bring the dog back for training.
Another form of fostering we love is for people to have a Walkies doggy sleep over to see how they cope away from the pack we then ask you to fill a form in about the dogs behaviour while in your care so we can see what areas need work in . Becoming a Walkies volunteer
We are always on the look out for good volunteers people who are passionate about dogs and want to make a difference. Everybody has their own talents and without our lovely volunteers we couldn’t of made Walkies what it is today. General kennel duties, dog walking,dog grooming, online advertising are all things we could do with volunteers to help with to help us help more dogs. Dog grooming volunteering is a great way to see if dog grooming is a career for you . We also offer a bit of training to be a groomer along the way.
